Trigger Filters are used to add one or more filters to target customers. When an automation trigger is set, the next step is to Add Trigger Filters based on source, products, and order value.

For example, in the Automation Filter, you've chosen Checkout started and on the Trigger Filters, you choose Subtotal Price and then Greater than 200. So, now whenever a customer moves to checkout and his subtotal price is greater than $200, they will receive an automated text message.
